Description

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical Superintendent with extensive experience in the offshore marine industry to oversee and manage all electrical systems and maintenance activities across our fleet of offshore support vessels, barges, and marine assets. The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise, ensure compliance with international and local regulations, and lead troubleshooting and upgrade projects for marine electrical and electronic systems.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the marine or offshore oil & gas sector, with at least 5 years in a senior electrical superintendent or equivalent role.

  • Deep knowledge of marine electrical systems, including high-voltage systems, automation, DP systems, and control systems.

  • Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, ABS, DNV, and Nigerian maritime regulatory standards.

  • Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering documentation.

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

Certifications:

  • STCW-compliant offshore certification (BOSIET/FOET)

  • DP system awareness or advanced training (preferred)

  • Electrical safety training (HV preferred)

  • Class-approved marine electrical qualifications or endorsements
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the electrical maintenance, repair, and performance of all offshore vessels, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.

  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and diagnostics of vessel electrical systems including power generation, distribution, propulsion, automation, and DP (Dynamic Positioning) systems.

  • Coordinate with vessel crew, onshore engineering teams, and OEMs to plan and execute electrical maintenance schedules (planned and corrective).

  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical failures and provide immediate and long-term solutions.

  • Ensure full compliance with class societies, flag state, and ISPS/ISM code requirements concerning electrical systems.

  • Manage and monitor the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment or system upgrades on vessels.

  • Supervise and mentor onboard electricians and ETOs, ensuring safe work practices and technical competency.

  • Support procurement in the selection of electrical spare parts and vendor engagement.

  • Provide detailed technical reports, maintenance records, and budget inputs to management.

  • Participate in dry dockings and major refits, focusing on electrical scope planning, execution, and quality assurance.
